You use your iPhone to check your horoscope, to listen to music, and show your buddies on the other side of the planet what you eat for breakfast. So why not use it to track how regularly — or irregularly — you’re having sex?
A new iPhone update in the fall will have several new features, including the ability to completely track your reproductive health — and yes, that’s inclusive of a sex tracker. As CNN states, the HealthKit app is being loaded with a feature is basically a journal in which you can input your menstrual cycle and all the changes that happen in it, such as cervical mucus quality and spotting. Getting that precise about your period sounds extreme to me, but I guess if you’re wanting to get pregnant, that info is imperative!
The sex tracking feature will record sexual activity, including if a condom was used or not. For those of us passionately trying not to get pregnant, a log of our sex lives could be totally miserable or something we want to screen-shot and Instagram. We see, though, how for girls who are trying to get pregnant, this could be an exceptional too. Also, data is kept private as first preference, but can be sent straight to a doctor if you would like them to check your reproductive health status in relation to having a child.
One more thing to consider? The HealthKit update is most certainly a step in the right direction for the company, who received quite a bit of reaction for overlooking female-friendly usability, as LiveScience points out. So for this purpose, we’re thankful that Apple is increasing their iPhone capabilities for us ladies.
